70. Brown and Bush: Champions of Freedom...

Or at least I hope!
I hear that Brown and Bush want to be present at the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Well, if they really must, I expect them not just to stand there (hopefully all on their own) looking neat and tidy in their starched China made silk shirts. I expect them to wear the black, five handcuffed rings T-shirt of Reporters Without Borders who seem to have a little more imagination than the English Premier and the American President. Either that or forget that America or Britain can ever again claim to be the Champions of Freedom and be credible.
However, as an European and someone who has spent a life time in Britain I should like to remind Gordon Brown that he will not be representing me, nor the Europeans and not even his country, because the Queen does that. He will be representing only himself and his wife, if she agrees to selling short what our predecessors have gained with blood, sweat and tears- namely freedom. Fortunately it is France who has the European Presidency during the Olympics and the French President Sarkozy has already said, after he has consulted other European Leaders, he will not go- THANK YOU MR. PRESIDENT SARKOZY- as Shakespeare would say, Nature may well stand up and say to all the world “That was a man!”
Meanwhile, since no one but the Chinese can report on the games, and they will let us see only what they want us to see, I suggest that Brown and Bush take a camera and take a few real photos- if they let them! So, they can have an album to look back upon and remind them of their shame!
P.S. Just to show that I am quite impartial in my articles and only weigh up what is right wrong and fair I should like to note that a little girl who fell into a tunnel of some sort, in China, was rescued... Perhaps Chinese Officials have a heart after all... However, they will never convince me that those who seek freedom are criminals and must be locked up or beaten to death.
