360. Italian Elections: What’s New?

The results
of the last elections in Italy which gave ¼ votes to the Left, ¼ to the Right, ¼
to the Grillo Movement and ¼ to absenteeism, therefore producing no real winner,
is quite reassuring for Italian politics as it shows Italy is back to normal
again, nothing new.
Quite
honestly I think the results of this national election is a question of much
ado about nothing. The Left Wing led by Bersani, thanks to the award of 55%
given to the coalition that has the relative majority enables such majority to
govern quite comfortably.
This in
effect means that there is a fully functioning government with an overall
majority in the Lower House and a small relative majority in the Upper House
for which a coalition with Berlusconi ‘s or Grillo’s coalition is needed.
Those are
the facts which to me do not constitute a major tragedy as the rest of the
world enjoys to speculate upon.
