27. For Evil to Exist...

Maybe the Berlin Wall should never have been knocked down, some Western Europeans may wail because since the Eastern countries of Europe have joined the Union and the barriers of comings and goings have been removed, the Italians who perhaps are more flexible in rules and regulations, have been plagued by violence.

Yesterday was the funeral of yet another victim, this time a Captain’s wife on her way back home. This was in Rome, but a few days ago two wardens were murdered right here in my Province. Sad to say the killers were Romanians- again. I say ‘sad’ because the people of Romania are like all other people of any nation, good and bad, but mainly good and the last thing I want to do is stigmatize the Romanian people. It would be like saying that all Italians in the USA are members of the Mafia. Nevertheless the ferociousness with which these Romanians treat their victims goes beyond belief. These thugs are not content with killing their prey, indeed not, they must torture them to death which is something that I can’t bring myself to understand. The husband and wife, custodians of a Villa met their end as Edward II of England… for those who have forgotten, Edward II was murdered by having an iron rod perforate his entrails from the rear.

So after yet another flagellation, the Italian government has asked for reinforcements from the Romanian Police so as to individualize the criminals among the immigrants which was met with a peculiar kind of communication. The announcer on the radio said the Romanian Police have informed the Italian government problems arise because it is the Italian male population that request and pay to have Romanian prostitutes in Italy and it is they, those men, who should be on their knees all year round. I agree, even though I fail to see the connection between prostitution and killing for robbery, however, nothing will bring me to justify the taking of another’s life- except in self-defence- perhaps.

But basically, if one has to point a finger of accusation at the Italian government on the matter of immigration, it is that it has not learnt the lesson that it just takes a good man to do nothing for evil to exist.
