114. 26th International Children Books Illustration Exhibition

For the last 26 years the village of Sarmede, at this time of the year, puts out all its international flags over the portals of the Town Hall to show that it has once again open its doors to the Children Books illustration exhibition which will be followed by the Children’s Theatre Fair when the village closes all its entrances and transforms itself into a fairytale village indeed. (see my website- About Me page)

The Theme for this year is “Music of the Ice” Fables from the Arctic Regions. This theme chosen also to highlight the fact that because of man’s neglect of nature, the ice regions are melting with all the possible consequences that can bring about. This is one effort to recall the bond that binds man to his environment.

Meet the Village Hierarchy

Photo: Dany Masuti is the person who gave birth to the Children’s Theatre Fair (see my website for details) and is its President. In the background is one of the many illustration of fairy tales of which is a unique characteristic of our Village Town Hall.

Photo: Rino Masuti is a founder member of the book illustration exhibition and has spent much time with nail and hammer in hand hanging up the illustrations- Precious originals from all over the world have been hammered on these boards by Rino for 26 years. I believe he still uses hammer and nails in spite that he has been recently Knighted by the President of Italy with the title of Cavaliere (similar to Sir), for a life of some extraordinary work in defence of the rights of the artisan and crafts workers, beside the voluntary work with which he has dedicated himself to the village.

Photo: Eddi Canzian has been our Mayor for several years.

Photo: Sergio Dal Cin is the Vice-Mayor and has been wearing out his car tyres trying to get the road which belongs to a neighbouring county council but leads to where we live, mended, because it is full of holes and being a steep hill, highly dangerous, and I get a heart palpitations every time I go up and down.

Photo:Leo Pizzol (with me) is the founder and President of the Book Illustration exhibition and also runs summer art classes by the Masters who have placed murals on the village walls.
