412. That Was the Holy Week That Was: Maundy Thursday

As it may be inferred from the title this is one of a series of titles which will cover the recent events of Holy Week.

This is not Westminster Cathedral or the Vatican but a tiny Parish Church at the foot of the Alpines in Northern Italy whose parishioners have just lost their parish priest of nine years (see link below) and are depending on those priests, who posted elsewhere, come back to their native village to see their families for the holidays.

Maundy Thursday:

Jesus is the first teacher in humility because He Himself was humble...

The children, who are to make their First Communion in May, put their best foot forward.

The children change into their First Communion vestments and are invited to assist Mass around the altar.

The Our Father

 The Sign of Peace

The Blessed Sacrament is taken out of the tabernacle which will be left empty until the Easter Vigil Mass of the Resurrection.

The Blessed Sacrament is placed in the side tabernacle and the children place their lighted candles on the steps of the altar.
