399. Christmas at Green is... Sarmede
It’s that time of the year again, Christmas- and
although in my mind, some Christmases are more joyous than others, I do not
remember any Christmas at all that was steeped in complete misery. This is not
because there have been no sad, tragic, desolate moments in my life but not one
of them seem to be associated with Christmas.

In my life, like everyone, I too have touched the depths of wretchedness, I too have known a world inimical and hostile and yet Christmas would as if by magic, dispel such bleak moments and envelop my being with a sense of warmth, hope and welcoming... Only Christmas had, has such power to do that.
And it breaks my heart to think there are people out
there who want to take the Christ out of Christmas, throw out of the window Our
Lady, Joseph, ox, ass, the whole darned family and do away with them all
because they may cause “offence” to non-believers. Well... do they have anything
better to offer...
