According to official figures as reported by CNN (see link below) rapes known to have been committed in India in 2011 have been identified as 24,206. Even for a country with a population twenty times that of Britain, for a seemingly spiritual, moral, democratic and civilized country as India, I do think over 24 thousands cases of rape is just beyond acceptance.

From 1971 rape
cases have increased ten-fold and one would not be wrong to assume it is
because in India there is no justice. As seen in my "The Real India" blog, and those I
propose to post later there is no justice in general and in particular for
women. Women are the possession of a male in India and they may be burned,
scarred, mutilated, raped, killed and no one will ever do anything about their
torturer. And even if the man is sent before a court of law, the statements of
denouncement are so processed that the torturer gets away scot free, ten or
fifteen years later when the case comes to trail.
My Indian
friends and acquaintances keep me updated on the injustices that take place in
India but although they supply their name, I often withhold their identity
because even though, nothing may happen to them, something horrendous could
happen to their wife, daughter or sister.
In Delhi last
year 572 cases of rape were reported and over 600 in 2012 this year. There is a
population of 16,753,235 people in Delhi, more or less a third of that in
Britain yet there were 600 rapes this year which in proportion to the
population in Britain it would account as if 1,800 women had been raped in
Britain in one year. We also have to bear in mind that the 600 cases of rape in
Delhi in 2012 are the ones which have been reported, one can imagine the
astronomical figure of the unknown cases which remain unknown because to report
a case of injustice in India is a hell of a thing to do as one of my Indian
acquaintances has set out for me in detail and which I will publish in a future
post.
With a justice
system as this, is it any wonder that I fight to keep the Italian sailors
accused of murdering two fishermen and risk the death penalty, to remain in Italy?
I wonder too why the Kerala/Delhi Justice system has pulled out all the stops
on the Italian sailors who were only doing their duty when the mishap happened,
and outrageously demand their pound of flesh of “justice” when they could not
care one iota to see justice done when a woman is raped, burned, disfigured or
killed.
Yes, you’ve
guessed it, the Kerala/Delhi authorities want and demand to keep the ransom of
the 800 thousand Euros they have extorted from the Italian government otherwise
disguised as the amount for the “caution” for their return on January 10th
.... but of justice, the Kerala/Delhi tribunals are not in the least bit
concerned, and it would cause those officials extreme aggravation if the
Italian authorities were stupid enough to send the sailors back to a lawless
country like India.
