348. God Will Find a Way... Late I have Loved You

There are two Italian sailors in India held for Ransom. Two sailors who were doing their duty, safeguarding the world’s ships from piracy. They were safeguarding Indian ships too, they were safeguarding Indian people from being attacked, killed or held for ransom by pirates, they were defending democracy.

Unfortunately, while carrying out this mission, two Indian fishermen who were fishing where they were not supposed to be fishing were caught in the fire conflict that ensued. Now the Italian sailors are held for ransom, infamously accused of murder, held captive on Indian soil, cannot see their families, live a normal existence, have their own life back.

I therefore appeal to God: the God of the Hindus, the God of the Muslims, the God of the Christians, the God of those who know not who is their God; I appeal to this God, for ultimately there is only one Creator, He who made you and me and each single one of us, I call on this God who came to share our humanity to release these two sailors from this unjust act against democracy, they who tried to defend democracy, to defend these two sailors who saved others from being ransomed and who now are themselves held for ransom.

But I also appeal to human justice, to the United Nations because they take steps to protect those who have defended every nation, every people on the high seas. If the Indian government decides to be deaf, the United Nations must defend they who have protected our democracy.

And to remind us of God here is a song from someone who had lost God but found Him again, who found, even if late, to love that...

.... BEAUTY SO ANCIENT AND YET EVER NEW.
