273. Bloggers do count- part one

All right, this is bragging, but I’m going to say it anyway, “As a blogger, I do count.”

So do you.  What makes me so confident on this score?  Because if I want the plain and simple news I go to a reputable newspaper, the news on TV or agency and similar sources.  At the end of the day if reality, like mathematics is not an opinion but a fact,  I should get the same answer to the equation that 2 plus 2 makes 4.

But facts alone do not satisfy the human soul and even less, curiosity.  We yearn to know, discover more; we want to know  the ifs, buts, whys and wherefores- we want to talk it out with someone.  A blogger has the freedom to express an opinion, though this is not excluded from those who supposedly give out plain and simple news.  Newspapers can make us agree or disagree with their outlook on the matter simply by the way they present the news, in fact, the headline alone will tell you what the editor thinks.

So, you may say, why should I bother read a blog if I can get all I need from a newspaper?  Because there is no journalist under the sun who is not tied to the policy of the journal, magazine, newspaper, television, news-agency he submits his article to.  There is no journalist who does not have to conform to the guidelines of where his/her article is to be published, where such article will be manipulated, bloated or cut, slashed, to measure by the editor in charge.

A blogger does not have such fetters to tie him down.   A blogger, since he chooses the subject matter to blog upon, is often far more qualified and savvy to write the article.  From a blogger you get his unadulterated views and with the right blogger you also get an impartial outlook from which to form your own conclusions.  This is a totally different story from being spoon-fed with the left or right wing inculcations of this or that newspaper.

And if you find you bump into a politically biased blogger, then find one who isn’t- there are 250 million bloggers out there.
