214. A LIB LAB CON for Italy Too?
Gianfranco Fini, Chairman of the Italian Parliamentary Upper House has decided to break up the Popolo della Libertà Party of which he and Berlusconi formed only three years ago, leaving the said party in a pickle, betraying his own voters and plunging Italy into the limbo of uncertainty once more. In other words he is attempting to turn Italian politics into the non-envious predicament of the British Lib Lab Con* quandary.
However, Gianfranco Fini does not have the strength that the Liberal Party in Britain does, of his 130 parliamentarians, only 55 have followed him in this suicidal political launch. But they are enough to weaken the present government and throw the rest of us in the shit, if one will excuse the not so elegant terminology. However, should he manage to gather about him all the stray dogs that are wandering loose in the corridors of Montecitorio he would be able to form a Lib Lab Con deadlock which will no doubt make him grin from one ear to the other for having given birth to such imbecility.
The stray dogs roaming around such corridors are worth a mention and I have a little list, among which are an ex left-wing Minister of Justice, an ex Magistrate, an ex Mayor of Rome, and an ex member of the government coalition party, who have only one thing in common, to be the one to emerge as the “Prima Donna” of Italian politics. And with such a glomeration of glamour chicks, we the citizens of Italy are not destined to have any means of tranquil sleep should any of them for some wild madness end up ruling the country.
As for Fini, I suggest he will have the good sense to resign voluntarily, since being Chairman of the Upper House requires a person who is impartial- trying to break up the government is not compatible with such a nomination.
