213. Goodbye Raimondo Vianello
At his funeral service yesterday the Priest remembered him as someone who made Italians laugh for half a century, that in itself, I consider to be a noble vocation.
Together with his wife, Sandra Mondaini they made the state of marriage their arena of battleground. In a society where, fifty years ago one could hardly say the married state was advantageous from the female point of view, went against the grain by proving the complete opposite.
In the renown series “Casa Vianello”, Raimondo did his utter best to hinder Sandra’s well meaning plans by reversing her tactics to his advantage which consisted primarily seducing the most sensual creature currently available, behind his wife’s back, but which invariably backfired on him. That basically was what family life in Italy was supposed to consist of which in reality, in some part did.
As the years rolled by and family life changed considerably, their series too was modernized but the basic template remained the same... that is, Raimondo always on the look out for a bit on the side- actually, I think that is still the same in real life too, in quite a number of cases, I do believe.
Goodbye Raimondo, you will be missed.
