92. Burma: Aid- From Ship to Ship- Not to Shore

Here is another case of mankind adding insult to injury to one’s fellow men- this time the Burmese people are the victims of their own rulers. Ambulances, water purifiers, all kinds of equipment, food, water, medicines all waiting in mid-sea forbidden by the Burmese Rulers to land and unload the much needed cargo. The French describes it as something close to “crimes against humanity” of which we know a few, even recent, rulers have met with the scaffold for such an accusation.

“This is inhuman.” Gordon Brown makes his voice heard. “We have an intolerable situation created by natural disaster,” he goes on to say on BBC World, “which is being made into a manmade catastrophe by the negligence, neglect and the inhuman treatment of the Burmese people by a regime that is failing to act and allow the international community to do what IT wants to do...” which is to save lives- my addition.

Not getting aid to the Burmese is wilful cruelty
On TV I have seen these, let’s call them 'gentlemen’ since that is the appearance they want to give of themselves, in their bright green felt Australian wide brimmed hats, with one side tucked up- very smart they are indeed- a horrifying contrast to the ragged mud clad bruised faced civilians to whom they are giving out small packages... and if that isn’t the perfect scene of mockery, I don’t know what is. Haven’t those smart looking green-hat officials any shame at all... They should stay at home and wash away their disgrace in the muddy waters that is inflicting their homeland.

They should also remember, the Burmese people may be under the rule of the Burmese Government, but they are also human beings and consequently belong to the race of humanity of which there is a common law for all humanity, and that is no crime should be made against humanity. These officials should also bear in mind, there is a court of justice where crimes against humanity are tried and sooner or later this court of justice will not tarry to catch up with them if they continue to prevent their people to have the aid- that same aid that is waiting on their shores to be unloaded. Not to give this aid to their people is a wilful act of cruelty of which one may be asked to account for it sooner or later.
