490. Falling in Love (or not) Again

It’s that time
of the year again – Valentine’s Day and people start thinking about love. I should think love is the one most discussed subject of all times. Even God approves of it! I’m reading Genesis at the moment and note that God says “Go and multiply…” And that to me is an explicit invitation to do sex. And… as with all other things God does in Genesis he comments with, “… and saw it was good.”

So, there you are – Go and have sex – you have it straight from the horse’s mouth. However, I don’t quite see it like that, and I’m wary of such an invitation.

As I was sitting outside on the patio this morning, as I do all mornings for breakfast, I tried some new crackers and, oh my, they tasted good.

Well, after eating the same crackers for years, anything else is bound to taste better – like marriage, or any relationship – you stay with it until you get fed-up; or at least that’s how I would imagine marriage, or the likes, to be.

Does that mean I’ve never been in love? No, of course not, but I’m wise enough to know that “love” is not everything and it can be quite ephemeral as anything else – just like crackers.

Happy Valentine to You.
