428. Jesus among the TV cameras
Two thousand years ago when Jesus walked this earth the crowds followed him- without TV cameras
or press, Jesus was a superstar- not because he had a successful publicity
campaign set up for him, but because he had a message and people recognized its
authenticity.
But then at the time,
the population was a mere 300 million most of which was situated in China where
it seems quite unlikely any of the Apostles ever set foot upon. Compared to the
over 6 billion people and again most of which are situated in China the way in
which the message that Jesus diffused, nowadays is very much changed- it has to
be because of the significant growth of human beings that have now populated
the earth... word of mouth, door to door is no longer feasible, though some
religions like the Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t seem to think so... still,
everyone to their own.

On Sunday, our Parish Priest said Mass as usual but this time instead of just our few
hundred parishioners that filled the church, the service was followed live by
those in the Veneto area who for one reason or another watched the service on
the Rete Veneta TV, in effect, on
this particular occasion in the history of our church, Jesus came among the
cameras. So we parishioners were joined by the many unseen viewers who followed
the service and shared this special moment together with us... and believe me,
we felt it.

One of the loveliest experiences in life is sharing something beautiful with others and the sharing of belief in God is probably the most rewarding because you share not just a belief but the power of goodness with others, for in sharing God, goodness follows too.
Have you noticed how troubled the world is today? Have you spotted where many of these troubles and
atrocities spring from? Yes, right there in that spot where there is no God.
Never has it been more clear than in recent times where the absence of God is-
it is where man infers his greatest cruelty to man in the negation of faith, in
the negation of love, in the negation of reason or light plunging man into the
deepest agony of an existence without God- without goodness.

In a world of over six billion people only two billions are Christians, half of which are
Roman Catholics and to reach the other four billion there’s a need for quite a
few TV cameras to spread the Word around- for without the Word, without Jesus
among the cameras people will never know him. And if people do not know God,
they do not know goodness and where
there is no goodness, evil will arise.
