307. Gay Sex and the Catholic Church
| A Catholic church in Italy |
Catholics go to extremes. There are the
bigoted ones who still believe the Church insists with fish on Friday and a
baby every year and those who bend over backwards to allow all kinds of
modern fads.
And when the Pope steps in to add an even keel,
there are uproars of protestations, not only from the world of non-Catholics
but from within the Church itself. So
bang goes your theory that the Church is not a democracy!
Of course I too have ranted against the Church on a
number of things, mainly on her views towards contraception and on separation,
divorce, living together: items which I consider, for good reason, that need to
be urgently reviewed. But I draw a line
when it comes to abortion and gay marriages.
I draw the line at abortion because life begins at
conception and any destruction of that life is nothing less than murder. I draw the line at gay marriages because God
did not say, a man will leave his mother and father and cleave to another man-
apart from which to have a mother who is a woman physically and a father who is
a man physically is every child’s birthright, and it would be an injustice to
proclaim differently.
“The Vatican has launched a crackdown on the umbrella group that
represents most of America’s 55,000 Catholic nuns, saying that the group was
not speaking out strongly enough against gay marriage, abortion and women’s
ordination.”
Notice that the Vatican has also cracked down on women
ordination. All I can say on that is if
Jesus had wanted women apostles he would have created them, but I guess in
those days, it just wasn’t the done thing. However, in this case I don’t think
the Vatican has got its priorities right- why should one put one’s head on the
block to preserve a male priesthood? After
all what great harm could a woman priest do anyway? Certainly nothing as harmful as abortion and
gay marriages would. That subject should
not be bundled together with the other two far more vital issues.
But the Vatican was right to crack down on things
that are vital to life.
There are many Catholics out there who will close an
eye to abortion if the situation presents difficulties to those involved. Of course the birth of an unwanted child
always presents problems, but that doesn’t mean you get dispensation to kill
it.
There are also many out there who would like to see
the end of family life as we know it, based on love, who would like to present before society another prototype of
family life. As I mentioned before, I
can’t see the sense in this- How can you present to society, your child, the
generations to come something which only begs the question:
How can you call love a man who sticks his penis up another man’s bum???
And if you don’t want to speak against this, then I
don’t see why you should be wearing a habit or call yourself a Catholic.
