297. Paedophiles: Things Left Unsaid

The question of paedophilia
has recently been concentrated on what has happened in the Catholic Church. And whereas I forcibly condemn catholic
priests who have committed such crimes, as does the whole Church, I
nevertheless cast my eye to that area that has been neglected, overlooked
ignored or made to pretend it doesn’t exist, namely- the rest of the
paedophiles.
A paedophile could well be
some wife’s “loving” husband and some child’s father, a relation, a close
friend. Because child abuse in our
society was/is so common, we have turned a blind eye to these “normal”
paedophiles so much so that paedophiles have been allowed to thrive almost without
check which enabled them to be woven into our culture more or less unseen;
society woke up suddenly only when catholic priests became involved.
Yet these
paedophiles, where the forces of law have been able to identify them,
have shown figures so staggering that we can only imagine how immense the rot
that has set in our society must be. If
you want figures and have a few hours to spare, you can browse through these
sites for starters:
In any case, without making
it any less serious, the question of catholic priests, in comparison to the
rest of the paedophiles in our society, is merely a drop in the ocean. And so long as people concentrate on catholic
priests as the main font of paedophilia, immense numbers of paedophiles
continue to worm their way within our society quite undisturbed.
