208. Motta di Livenza: Opening of the 500 Years Anniversary of Apparition

This time last year the pilgrim statue of Our Lady left Motta di Livenza and was carried on foot around the parishes of the Diocese causing quite a stir among the villages.  People came out in their throngs and those that could not be moved the statue was taken to them like the Senior Citizens’ home and the children’s nursery in Fregona.

On Sunday March 7th we pilgrims returned the visit and went to pay homeage to Our Lady at Motta di Livenza.  We went by coach to the outskirts of the city, then met up with pilgrims from other towns and walked the rest of the 4 kilometres or so to the sanctuary.
However, there were those from outside Italy who walked sturdily a whole seven days to reach the sanctuary, which should indeed have put the rest of us to shame.  But as Roosevelt said “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”
