93. China: A Broken Heart

China will have to forgive me if I haven’t been more prompt in writing about the immense tragedy that the earthquake has caused them.

the occasional joy of finding a child still alive
However, they themselves had opened wide the doors to the rest of the world in reporting the events and we all were given to see the heart of a nation in grief. All kinds of images have reached us- images of devastation, the debris, the collapsing walls, the rows of bodies and the occasional joy in finding a student, a woman, a child still alive. And upon opening the doors to the world they also opened their hands to accepting whatever aid was made available from the rest of the world.

So apart from sharing their grief there is nothing left for me to do... Oh yes, except to mention they have also re-opened up a monastery in Tibet...
